….. Evening.
Good evening.
Is there something I can help you with, madame?
Not in particular, but I am curious as to why a dragon is speaking. Even in my line of work I’ve never come across one.
It’s not that unusual among my kind, most of us never bother talking with humans since it doesn’t usually end well for us. I can appear human if that will ease what confusion you have.
You can switch forms? Dear Lord. It doesn’t matter to me what form you’re in, but I admit again you’ve also just severely increased my curiosity.
“I am, again, another little trick my kind can do if they know how it’s done. Just a simple little trick.” Beliruse mused, the dragon shifting down in size to stand as a human.
“What are you, precisely, if you don’t mind me asking? Your kind?” She asked, studying his now human form. “If it’s not impolite.”
“Dragon, though not ones that stayed on this world” he answered, a crooked grin crossing his face as he set his hands on his hips.
“How absolutely marvelous. I’ve only ever met three other dragons in my life and rest assured they’re nothing like you seem to be.”
“Then I imagine the three you met before me weren’t the most shining example of the rest of us.”
“No, they weren’t. They tried to kill me. I hope you won’t be the same.”
“Relax, I won’t. I find human too stringy for my tastes.”
Helen blinked at him a moment, then let out a soft chuckle. “Glad to hear it, then. I’d prefer not to shoot you.”
Beliruse grinned again, laughter following a moment later. “I’m afraid I’m not that easy to kill, if I was, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”

Do you need something human child?
“Need? No. Do…you need something?”
“I was on my way to hunt for the evening, unless you happen to have a few spare deer lying around.”
“Oh? Um…no. No deer. Just fish. Is…is there a spell on you too?”
“Eh, fish will do until I go hunting. Spell? No, no spell. Well, that’s half true, it is in a way but I’m going to figure that it’s not in the way that you’re questioning.”
“I can bring you some if you’d like. I- well…no. My dragon, he had a spell put on him and now he can talk and he’s never been able to before.”
“I’ve always been able to talk, the spell I was referring to allows me to go between being like this and looking human.”
Hey, Dragon. Haven’t seen many of you lately. How’s the weather?
Archangel, correct? And recently it’s been too nippy for my tastes.
The best kind of angel, darling.
Nippy, hmm? Personally, I’d rather be cold than hot, but firebreathers go about it differently, of course.
I’ll have to take your word on that, Michael didn’t leave that much of an impression on me.
I rather prefer the balance between the two, not too hot and not too cold, but that is just me.
Michael’s a knob.
Everyone prefers the balance, but there’s always one you’d rather have than suffer through the other. It’s why people pick Summer or Winter most of the time.
That is an understatement. He got rather indignant when I mentioned the human I had for lunch.
I like spring, to be honestly. Just starting to get warm and isn’t as cold as it once was.
Yeah? That a common habit for you?
Mikey’s just touchy. Surprised he gives half a damn about a human though. You didn’t eat a vessel, did you?
I’m a fall kinda guy, myself. Seems a bit morbid, since everything’s dying about then, but hey, it’s the best time to jump into some leaves.
He caught me by surprise while I was bored one night, not my fault the idiot decided to go camping where I was nested.
Not that I know of, I never did understand that need for vessels for you angels.
Hardly morbid, winter is the season for morbid thoughts, that’s when everything is dead.
Dragon’s nest? Let’s camp here!… Yeah, dude’s an idiot. Glad you ate him.
Well, we can’t talk or do much of anything without ‘em. Not with out murdering everything in sight range.
Dead is less morbid than dying. Life and death are normal, it’s the in between that gets everyone freaked.
Something along those lines. He did stick in my throat though, not quite worth it. Stringy bastard.
Ah, couldn’t you just create a temporary vessel to serve your purpose instead of just having to risk blinding and killing everything in sight?
Depends on who you ask, I think death is more morbid then dying, you at least have a chance of being saved if you are dying.

Really now? Then what are you?
Shush woman. If I was going to hurt you, I would have eaten you by now.
